The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of a Solidarity-Based Future, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Public Administration, including ministers, state secretaries, and other relevant government officials.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the key challenges faced by long-term care providers, particularly in relation to workforce sustainability and work organisation in care homes, special social care institutions, and home care services. The meeting focused on identifying and addressing these challenges in order to strengthen the long-term sustainability of the long-term care system and find systemic solutions aimed at improving working conditions for staff and the quality of services for users.

The Association of Social Institutions of Slovenia highlighted the need for fairer employee evaluation and proposed the establishment of a separate pay pillar for long-term care providers. This would ensure a fairer treatment of employees, contribute to workforce stability, and enhance the attractiveness of the profession.

Participants also emphasised the need for the gradual introduction of updated staffing standards and providing additional support to long-term care providers to ensure accessible, high-quality services for users.

The Prime Minister and representatives of the relevant ministries acknowledged the challenges presented and expressed support for continued expert dialogue and the search for effective solutions to ensure the long-term sustainability of the long-term care system.
