Minister Jevšek at the OECD ministerial meeting on regional development policy in Warsaw
In terms of ensuring a smart green transition for competitiveness and resilience, Minister Jevšek highlighted that climate mitigation measures had to go hand in hand with competitiveness improvement.
‘’Slovenia is extremely vulnerable to climate change impacts, which underlines the need for a differentiated approach to adaptation and for tailored strategies that consider both the sectoral and territorial dimension,’’ stressed Minister Jevšek. He added that Slovenia’s new regional development policy would build on a place-based proactive approach linking regional and sectoral policies and promoting investments in best low-emission projects.
Slovenia supports innovative highly productive businesses, including through mechanisms like the Just Transition Fund. The latter, for example, helped finance the establishment of a low-carbon technology centre in the Zasavje coal region. According to Minister Jevšek, ensuring policy coherence and fostering stakeholder involvement remain at the heart of efforts for a more balanced development of all regions.
