EU funding for the reconstruction of the Barjanska cesta road in Ljubljana
As part of the EU-funded project, the Urban Municipality of Ljubljana will reconstruct the Barjanska cesta road in Ljubljana, namely the section between the Ziherlova ulica road in the north and the slip road in the south. The co-financed reconstruction includes narrowing the urban road to include yellow lanes for urban public passenger transport vehicles, an intermediate green space, a two-way cycle lane and a two-way pedestrian walkway. A new spiral roundabout will be built at the intersection of the Barjanska cesta road and the slip road at P+R Barje to increase the traffic flow. This investment also includes the reconstruction of the existing rainwater sewer system and the widening of the existing bridge over Mali Graben. The investment is of great importance, ensuring connectivity of the different areas of Ljubljana and will allow for better sustainable user mobility.
The ITI project Reconstruction of the Barjanska cesta road is implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027, priority Sustainable mobility, and pursues the specific objective Sustainable urban mobility.
The European Regional Development Fund will contribute 1,250,000 euros for the project worth 19,388,637.23 euros.
