Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon visits Japan and China

On Monday, Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon began a multi-day visit to Japan, extending her itinerary to include a visit to China.

In her first destination, she was accompanied by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Igor Papič, and a sizeable business delegation to East Asia.

In Japan, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon and Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa discussed bilateral relations and cooperation in the UN Security Council, particularly in the light of the many conflicts that require decisive action by the international community. On the first day of her visit to Tokyo, she addressed representatives of the Japanese-Slovenian Business Council and gave a lecture at Keio University. On the second day, she met with Japan's Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Iwata Kazuchika, as well as representatives of Keidanren, Japan's largest business federation, the CEO of Hitachi Corporation and the Chairman of the Board of Director of the SMBC, Japan's second largest bank.

Minister Fajon continued her diplomatic agenda with an official visit to China, with meetings in Beijing and Shanghai. Over the course of four days, discussions focused on enhancing political dialogue, both bilaterally and in the UN Security Council, strengthening economic cooperation and presenting Slovenia's cultural diplomacy. The visit was an important opportunity to strengthen Slovenia's economic, scientific and cultural diplomacy.
