Prime Minister, Dr. Golob, and Commissioner Breton exchanged views on yesterday's debate at the European Council meeting on strengthening the EU's internal market, where the leaders advocated, among other things, a new agreement in the field of EU competitiveness and greater attraction of private capital in investments for growth. They agreed that strengthening productivity and competitiveness are key to the growth of the European economy, with due attention also being paid to small and medium-sized enterprises. The latter is of great importance for Slovenia, as an industrial and highly export-oriented economy, strongly embedded in the EU internal market.

The new EU industrial policy, which responds to the changed global conditions and the challenges of the green and digital transition, brings new opportunities for Slovenia as well, both in the field of green mobility and space, defence and other industries. In this light, Commissioner Breton's visit is also intended to examine the possibility of involving Slovenian companies in joint European projects.
