Slovenia hosts the Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence

On Monday and Tuesday, the Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence was held at Brdo pri Kranju. It was organised by the Ministry of Digital Transformation under the patronage of UNESCO.

The more than 600 participants in the forum from almost 70 countries is proof that artificial intelligence is an important field. Slovenia was not arbitrarily chosen to host the event, as it has a long history of engagement in artificial intelligence. No country or company can find answers to the questions of modern times alone, which is why Minister of Digital Transformation Emilija Stojmenova Duh believes that we need global cooperation.

"We are aware that artificial intelligence can improve our lives. However, it can also bring certain risks," she said at the press conference held in the middle of the first day of the forum. At the official opening of the forum, Vice-President of the Government and Minister of Labour Luka Mesec highlighted the rapid rate of changes in technology.

On the margins of the global forum, eight technological companies committed themselves to developing more ethical artificial intelligence that is in accordance with UNESCO's recommendations. An agreement with UNESCO was signed by Microsoft, Mastercard, Lenovo, GSMA, INNIT, LG, Salesforce and Telefonica, UNESCO announced.
