The Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief has purchased new, smaller aerial firefighting planes under a project co-funded by the European Union: two AT-802 two-seater and two AT-802 single-seater aerial firefighting planes, two of which are already in Slovenia and the remaining two are expected to be delivered in the first half of next year.

“Slovenia will join other EU Member States that have their own firefighting fleet,” added Minister Jevšek. By purchasing the mentioned planes, Slovenia has gained the material and technical means to facilitate the establishment of a comprehensive system for the provision of aerial firefighting capacities both in Slovenia and in the wider European Union area.

The Cohesion Fund will contribute EUR 15,500,000.00 for the project, which is worth EUR 23,292,932.69.
