Minister Jevšek visits Radlje ob Dravi and Ravne na Koroškem as part of the government visit to Koroška

In the morning, the Minister of Cohesion and Regional Development Dr Aleksander Jevšek visited Radlje ob Dravi and met with the Mayor of Radlje ob Dravi Municipality Alan Bukovnik and the Director of the Regional Development Agency for Koroška Karmen Sonjak. They discussed the post-flood recovery measures and the funding opportunities under Slovenia's Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027.

The minister met with entrepreneurs and innovators who started their career path at the Radlje na Koroškem-based networked business incubator. They discussed avenues for further economic development in the region.

According to Ms Sonjak, the Koroška Networked Business Incubator operates in four municipalities in the region, namely Ravne na Koroškem, Slovenj Gradec, Radlje ob Dravi and Dravograd. The incubator is nearly fully occupied. It provides some 3,500 square metres of office space and production space which is home to 37 businesses with 99 employees.

‘’I’m happy to see that the workspaces are fully occupied, and that young businesses and start-ups thrive here. It’s important they stay in the region even after they have grown and expanded to be able to create new job opportunities and thus importantly contribute to the development of the region,’’ stressed minister Jevšek.

State Secretary at the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport Matevž Frangež and Deputy of the National Assembly from Koroška and Head of Social Democrats Deputy Group Jani Prednik joined the minister to meet entrepreneurs in the region who presented their work and achievements.

A meeting of the ministers with the region’s mayors, economic actors, and other stakeholders as well as a government session are scheduled for the afternoon. At the former, discussion will revolve around the recent flash floods and their impacts on the people, the economy, and the environment in the Koroška region.
