Swiss Contribution to reduce economic and social disparities in the European Union

The Government of the Republic of Slovenia has adopted the initiative to conclude the Framework Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the Swiss Federal Council on the implementation of the second Swiss Contribution to selected member states of the European Union to reduce economic and social disparities in the European Union. Minister of Cohesion and Regional Development Dr Aleksander Jevšek has been authorised by Slovenian Government to sign the Framework Agreement.

The second Swiss Contribution supports 13 partner countries and aims to reduce economic and social disparities in Europe and promote measures to manage migration. The second Swiss Contribution makes a total of 16 million euros available to Slovenia until 2029.

The Framework Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the Swiss Federal Council on the implementation of the second Swiss Contribution to the selected member states of the European Union to reduce economic and social disparities within the European Union has been drafted jointly by the relevant Slovenian and Swiss authorities.

The signed agreement will be the umbrella document serving as the legal basis that allows for the start of the implementation of the second Swiss Contribution in Slovenia. The country will receive over 15 million euros from the second Swiss Contribution for the selected thematic area ‘Protecting the Environment and the Climate’, more specifically ‘Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’. The agreement is planned to be signed on 28 August in Ljubljana.
