The Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs hosted bilateral political consultations between Slovenia and Azerbaijan, chaired by State Secretary Samuel Žbogar and Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov.

During the consultations, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, with a focus on intensifying political and economic cooperation. They discussed dealings between Azerbaijan and the European Union, particularly as regards energy and connectivity. The talks also touched on global and regional issues, focusing on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and the war in Ukraine. In the context of multilateral issues, State Secretary Žbogar presented to his guest Slovenia's candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2024–2025 term.
