The news about the announcement of Ljubljana as the winning destination was viewed by four million travellers from all over the world on the website of the European Best Destinations alone. Together with all media partners of the organisation that makes the selection, the news reached more than 420 million people worldwide. The estimated value of such promotion amounted to more than EUR 10 million and had long-term effects, emphasised Ljubljana Tourism.

They recalled the statement by Maximilien Lejeune, Director of European Best Destinations, who said during the announcement that “global travellers love Ljubljana, which boasts an exceptional quality of life, green areas, accessibility, safety, and tolerance, and is a multicultural, optimistic, sporty and family-friendly destination”.

Lejeune highlighted Ljubljana as a model for destinations around the world, and on this occasion, European Best Destinations cited it as an example of great media success after receiving the title.

They also underlined the benefits brought to the Slovenian capital by the “incredible international support, its strong identity and branding of its tourist offer, tourist activities and partnerships with hotels, shops and institutions”.

Ljubljana Tourism pointed out that Ljubljana received strong media support from renowned sources such as Forbes, Condé Nast Traveler, Yahoo and Geo, as well as intensive promotion among travellers and the professional tourism public.
