State Secretary Dr Benedejčič meets Director of the Office of the Security Council of the Slovak Republic

Today, Dr Andrej Benedejčič, State Secretary for National and International Security in the Office of the Prime Minister, welcomed Pavel Franko, Director of the Office of the Security Council of the Slovak Republic.

As the secretaries of the national security councils of both countries, the discussion partners exchanged views regarding current challenges faced by Slovenia and Slovakia and examined the possibilities for deepening bilateral cooperation in the field of security.

State Secretary Benedejčič thanked his Slovakian counterpart for the help provided during the extensive fires in the Karst this summer. He also emphasised the importance Slovenia places on the efforts to enhance the NATO defence and deterrence stance regarding its eastern flank. To this end, it deployed the first contingent of the Slovenian Armed Forces, as part of the allied enhanced Vigilance Activities (eVA), to Slovakia several months ago.

During his visit to Slovenia, Director Franko also addressed the members of the National Security Council Secretariat.
