Second meeting of the Prime Minister and ministers of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia with coalition deputies

Today, Prime Minister Dr Robert Golob hosted a consultation with the ministers and coalition deputies.

The discussion focused on the presentation of responses to the mitigation of high energy prices at the EU level, the review of the fulfilment of the commitments in the Coalition Agreement, the planned acts and measures, and the course of the referendum campaign.

The Prime Minister stressed that the attendees agreed that a lot of work has been done, as the activities in half of the fields determined in the Coalition Agreement are already underway. Certain objectives have already been realised, i.e. removal of the wire fence on the border, withdrawal from the contract on Boxer eight-wheelers, the COVID-19-exit strategy and the intervention act in healthcare to eliminate waiting periods. "We had two basic targets for this autumn. The first was the rising prices, and I am pleased to say that annual inflation in Slovenia was 10.8 per cent when this Government took office and now it is 9.9 per cent," Dr Golob emphasised and added, "In the same period, inflation in the euro area increased from 8 per cent to almost 11 per cent. This means that Slovenia, with a decisive and thoughtful policy, reversed the inflation trends faster than those in the euro area."

As the second target, he mentioned the COVID-19-exit strategy, "When the Government started its term, we were all afraid about what may happen in autumn. Today, we find that society is functioning normally, the most vulnerable groups are protected and we have learned to live with COVID-19. These are some of the most important achievements of this Government," he stated.

After the consultation session, the Prime Minister concluded that the coalition supported both ministers waiting on interpellations, "The coalition stays united, clear and decisive. It will support both ministers and reject interpellations."
