The slogan of the 21st European Mobility Week states, 'Better Connections' and promotes the forms of transport that are alternative to cars, thus highlighting walking, cycling and public passenger transport.

The Ministry of Infrastructure oversees the comprehensive approach to transport planning of sustainable mobility and also subsidises transport, improves public passenger connections, implements strategies for the use of alternative fuels, improves rail infrastructure, and finally, plans, sites and constructs good and functional cycling connections.

The use of public passenger transport significantly increased this July in Slovenia in comparison to July 2021; some 50 per cent more passenger kilometres were implemented in scheduled public bus and rail transport and the number of passenger vehicles increased, while the number of newly registered cars dropped by 12 per cent. Another positive trend has been noted in Slovenia, as the number of kilometres travelled in a sustainable way increases, and on the other hand, the number of kilometres travelled by means of fossil fuel vehicles is decreasing.

Between 2014 and the end of 2023, Slovenia intends to co-finance or finance more than 100 sustainable mobility projects worth more than EUR 250 million, which amounts to EUR 12.5 per citizen per year.
