The directors-general discussed EU relations with partners in Europe and the current political initiatives in this context. They also looked at the future of the enlargement policy and exchanged views on following up the measures based on the proposals of the Conference on the Future of Europe.

During the debate, Acting Director-General Škrilec welcomed the strengthening of relations with our European like-minded partners and stressed the importance of continuing the enlargement policy and the credibility of the EU in this context. Under the present circumstances, enlargement is the EU’s most important geostrategic policy, now more than ever. As to the future of Europe, she underlined the importance of delivering on the proposals arising from the dialogue with citizens. Slovenia is a strong advocate of a sovereign, open and politically closer Union and remains committed to the success and further development of the European project.
