The event took place at the UN headquarters in Vienna, with Slovenia organising an exhibition of a 3D model of Carniolan honey bee in a 1:100 scale, attracting several thousand visitors during the week.  Slovenia has also donated a Slovenian hive with a family of Carniolan honey bees, which is already pollinating the gardens of the UN Office in Vienna.

In his address, State Secretary Raščan pointed to the recent 30th anniversary of Slovenia’s UN membership, which was celebrated on 22 May 2022. The same date also marks the Slovenian Diplomacy Day. He underlined Slovenia’s ongoing commitment to multilateralism and to defending the UN’s central role in ensuring international peace and security, developing international law, promoting and protecting human rights, especially women and youth, and addressing global challenges such as climate change and food security, which are increasingly exposed within the framework of the Security Agenda.

The Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna and Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime Ghada Fathi Waly also attended the event.
