Austria, Liechtenstein, Slovenia and Switzerland, which are bound by cooperation in the Alpine region, share common values and promote a common approach in addressing international challenges.

The talks focused on the current situation in Ukraine and the wider humanitarian and economic ramifications of the Russian attack on the country. State Secretary Dovžan condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine and stressed the importance of close cooperation between partners in this regard, joining EU sanctions and providing necessary support to Ukraine.

The high officials also discussed the future of Europe and the EU, Switzerland-EU relations, cyber cooperation and the importance of digital diplomacy.

On the margins of the Quadrilaterale meeting, State Secretary Dovžan held bilateral talks with State Secretary Livia Leu. They reaffirmed excellent political and economic relations between Slovenia and Switzerland, which is Slovenia’s second most important foreign trading partner, with trade in goods worth EUR 9.5 billion. The two countries have established exemplary cooperation within the Alpine region and other multilateral fora. State Secretary Dovžan and State Secretary Leu also discussed current European topics, the future of Europe and relations between Switzerland and the EU.
