In 2021, the unemployment rate was lower (by 0.2 p.p.) and the employment rate was higher (by 0.8 p.p.) than in the previous year. More persons in employment worked in precarious forms of work.

In the last 14 years, the number of persons in employment was the highest in 2008 with 996,000, and at that time, the unemployment rate was at its lowest, 4.4%. The opposite was true in 2013, when the number of persons in employment was the lowest with 906,000, and the unemployment rate was at its highest, 10.1%. In 2021, there were 972,000 persons in employment and the unemployment rate was 4.7%.
