The speakers condemned the continued repression by the regime, violations of human rights and unacceptable pressure from the authorities on civil society. They also mentioned the use of migrants by the Belarusian regime as a means to achieve political objectives and exert migratory pressure on the EU.

Minister Logar advocated continuing efforts to keep Belarus high on the EU or international agenda, reiterating the call on the Belarusian authorities to put an end to violence and persecution, to immediately release all illegally detained political prisoners, to investigate all alleged human rights violations and to ensure accountability for the crimes committed. He went on to express solidarity with the frontline EU member states facing disproportionate migratory pressure and assured readiness to help.

In addition to Minister Logar, the conference participants included the leader of the Belarusian opposition, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, European Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi, and the foreign ministers of Germany, Finland, Poland, Estonia and Slovakia.
