State Secretary Dr Raščan attends 60th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement

In his capacity as Minister for Development Cooperation and representing Minister of Foreign Affairs Anže Logar, State Secretary Raščan represented Slovenia at a commemorative meeting marking the 60th anniversary of the first conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). Slovenia is one of the successor states of a founding member of the NAM movement. On the sidelines of the event, he met with State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nemanja Starović.

The jubilee meeting hosted by Ilham Aliyev, the Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement, and President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić is taking place in Belgrade, which is where the Movement's first conference took place 60 years ago. Representatives from 85 countries are attending the event.

On the margins of the meeting, State Secretary Raščan met with State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nemanja Starović. The counterparts assessed that Slovenia and Serbia maintain high-level relations laying a solid foundation for further cooperation. State Secretary Raščan underlined that constructive collaboration between the two countries is reflected at both the bilateral and multilateral level, thus strengthening their economic cooperation. The two high officials also touched on outstanding former Yugoslavia succession issues, with State Secretary Raščan assuring his counterpart that Slovenia will provide further support and expert assistance to Serbia in negotiations with the EU and stressing the importance of continuing to implement the necessary reforms.

On the margins of the commemorative event, State Secretary Raščan held bilateral meetings with the Ghanaian and Qatari Foreign Ministers as well as the Deputy Foreign Ministers of Chile and South Africa.
