Minister Logar today listened to the address by Slovenian President Borut Pahor at the UN General Assembly. In his address, President Pahor called for solidarity in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic and meeting climate change commitments that also appertain to water scarcity. He stressed the key contribution digitalisation and new technologies can make in meeting current challenges. He warned of the pressing humanitarian and security situation around the world, underlining the importance of respect for international law and human rights.

Minister Logar also attended the meeting of President Pahor with UN Secretary-General António Guterres. The discussion focused on climate change and current security challenges. The two high officials stressed the importance of strengthening multilateralism in the economic and social recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and building resilience. President Pahor extended an invitation to the Secretary-General to visit Slovenia next year on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of our country’s accession to the UN.
