Minister Logar and the senators focused their discussion on topical issues in relations between Slovenia and the USA as well as in the international community. They expressed their mutual satisfaction with visibly strengthened links between the two countries, including at the highest levels and through new initiatives, such as the strategic dialogue.

They underlined the important role of strong transatlantic ties and joint alliance both within NATO and in reinforcing cooperation between the EU and the USA, to which Slovenia also contributes as the current holder of the EU Council presidency. The Minister and the senators advocated continuing the close European-US partnership in addressing regional and global issues, including the Western Balkans, Russia and China. They devoted particular attention to the situation in Afghanistan.

Minister Logar called attention to the friendship groups with Slovenia in both Houses of the Congress, which provide an excellent platform for strengthening ties between Slovenia and the US legislative body.

The delegation includes Senators Mike Crapo from Idaho, John Cornyn from Texas, Deb Fischer from Nebraska, John Kennedy from Louisiana, and Roger Marshall from Kansas.
