Minister Logar visits Israel

Foreign Minister Anže Logar met with the Israeli Alternate Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Yair Lapid in Jerusalem today. They discussed bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, which has deepened and expanded into new areas in the last year. The high officials also touched upon the resilience and effective response of the international community to various crises. The talks also focused on current events in the region, EU-Israel relations and the priorities of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

During the meeting, the Acting Director of the Government Information Security Office Uroš Svete and Director General of the Israel National Cyber Directorate Yigal Unna signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of cybersecurity.

During his visit to Jerusalem, Jernej Müller, Political Director and Director General for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, met with Israeli Political Director Alon Bar, with whom he had an opportunity to exchange views on the situation in the wider region.

During his visit to Israel, Minister Logar also met with Speaker of the Knesset Mickey Levy and Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee Chairman Ram Ben-Barak. The Minister also spent time with representatives of the Slovenian-Israeli Chamber of Commerce and representatives of the Israeli business community, with whom he exchanged views on strengthening strategic economic cooperation.

Prior to the visit, Minister Logar also visited Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, where he rekindled the eternal flame and laid a wreath in memory of the victims of the Holocaust.
