The interlocutors agreed that the bilateral relations are excellent as many Swiss companies make investments in Slovenia. 300 Swiss-owned companies operate in Slovenia. Prime Minister Janez Janša emphasised Slovenia's great interest in upgrading and further consolidating economic relations. He highlighted the interest in investments and cooperation in high technologies and in industries that create high added value.

Mr Janša and Mr Parmelin agreed that good education system and investments in innovations are of key importance for the development of any country.

President Parmelin also pointed out Switzerland's recent decision to terminate the negotiations with the EU on the Institutional Framework Agreement, stressing that despite this decision, Switzerland wants the relations with the EU to remain at the best possible level. The country remains open to continuing talks and seeking a positive agenda with the EU in the fields of common interest.
