  • Former Prime Minister Janez Janša (2020 - 2022)
Today, Prime Minister Janez Janša attended the Porto Social Summit, a high-level conference organised by the Portuguese presidency.

The overall objective of the Social Summit is to set the European social policy agenda for the next decade and ensure that we face the challenges of the present and of the future leaving no one behind. Member States, European institutions, social partners and civil society representatives will meet at the high-level conference to reinforce their commitment to the implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights.

"The best social policy is the policy of creating new and well-paid jobs. For such social policy we need an education system that not only conveys a lot of knowledge to young people, but above all teaches them how to properly choose and use this knowledge, which is so abundant today, in an innovative way," said Prime Minister Janez Janša in his statement to the press upon his arrival at the Social Summit.

He went on to say that family and creating an enabling environment for families is always at the heart of a good social policy.

"There are many shades of the European social model in the European Union, but there are also some common denominators, and the strongest common denominator of European social policy is precisely the policy of job creation," concluded Prime Minister Janez Janša in his statement to the press.
