The Minister expressed satisfaction with the traditionally good relations between Slovenia and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, noting that there remain many unexplored opportunities to strengthen cooperation, particularly in the economy, science and technology. It is encouraging to see Slovenia and certain LAC countries directing their cooperation to new areas, such as artificial intelligence, digitisation and circular economy.

Although Slovenia will take up the EU Council Presidency soon, Minister Logar ensured that the EU-LAC relations will always be strategically important for our country. We share similar opinions on a number of international issues, are united by common values and committed to a rules-based international order. During its Presidency, Slovenia will continue to actively support the policies and initiatives that will strengthen the bonds between the two sides while seeking to revive the EU-LAC dialogue.

Minister Logar affirmed that the Conference will help in finding answers to current issues of bilateral and interregional cooperation and went on to thank the Slovenian and international partners who participated in the preparation of the programme, especially the EU-LAC International Foundation.

Other EU and LAC foreign ministers and high representatives will greet the conference participants via video conferences in the coming days.
