State Secretary Dobran Božič meets Austrian, Czech, Slovak and Croatian counterparts

  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs
State Secretary Dobran Božič attended a meeting of the Slavkov format composed of Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia in Bratislava today. For the first time, the Slovenian and Croatian state secretaries joined their counterparts in the Slavkov trilateral format for a meeting.

The Slavkov format is a regional cooperation platform set up by Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Their cooperation is centred on joint initiatives, the exchange of information and the coordination of views on EU issues. The format aims to enhance mutual relations and cooperation through dialogue and joint projects of different line ministries.

The meeting focused on EU topics, with the participants later exchanging views on the Union’s future and the enlargement with the Western Balkans. They also touched on Brexit, migration and the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF),  including the opportunities for closer cooperation on digitisation, new technologies, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

The name Slavkov originates from the first meeting between the prime ministers of Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, which took place in the Czech town of Slavkov in 2015.
