Bilateral political consultations between Slovenia and Ethiopia

Today, the Slovenian Foreign Ministry hosted bilateral political consultations between Slovenia and Ethiopia, headed by the Acting Director-General for Common Foreign and Security Policy, Anita Pipan, and the Director-General for European and European Union Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ato Mehreteab Mulugeta. They addressed bilateral cooperation, including in economic matters, as well as cooperation at the multilateral level.

Bilateral political consultations between Slovenia and Ethiopia

Director-General Mulugeta gave an overview of the political, economic and social situation in Ethiopia, while Director-General Pipan briefed him on the key characteristics of the Slovenian economy and the preparations for the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU. She went on to present Annual International Conference Africa Day and invited Ethiopia to collaborate and attend the Conference, which this year will focus on agriculture. Collaboration in apiculture and promotion of World Bee Day was also discussed.

The directors-general confirmed the mutual interest in continuing political dialogue. They exchanged views on current foreign policy and regional issues, with particular emphasis on the situation in the Horn of Africa and the Western Balkans.

On the margins of the bilateral political consultations, the Ethiopian delegation met with representatives of a number of Slovenian companies and discussed the concrete possibilities to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
