With a view to presenting the efforts that led to the proclamation of World Bee Day, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food (MAFF) and the Slovenian Beekeepers’ Association organised a travelling exhibition entitled "Path from the initiative to the proclamation of World Bee Day".

The exhibition is designed to be seen by as many visitors as possible and to acquaint them with the efforts that were necessary to proclaim World Bee Day. The touring exhibition shows all the key documents, charters and promotional materials published for the purpose of making World Bee Day a reality. It includes images presenting all the steps taken from the initial idea to the proclamation of World Bee Day by the United Nations. The photographs also show the resounding celebration of the first-ever World Bee Day.

The exhibition was attended by Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Aleksandra Pivec, who drew attention to the fact that the credit for the UN proclamation of 20 May as World Bee Day belongs to Slovenia, of which we should be thoroughly proud.

She highlighted all the achievements of the MAFF in this area: the approval of the Government action plan for the ongoing World Bee Day project, the introduction of a special prize for outstanding international achievements in beekeeping – the Golden Bee Award, and the initiative submitted by Slovenia, which calls on the European Commission to introduce a more transparent labelling of the origin of the honey.

In particular, she called for the continuation of all planned activities and raising public awareness of the importance of beekeeping in the world.
