The globally respected gastronomic magazine Food and Travel Magazine Italia has awarded Slovenia the prestigious “Emerging Nation in Eno-Gastronomy” award.

In the Forte Village Resort in Sardinia, the awards were presented to Italian and international recipients that have particularly impressed readers, food and wine connoisseurs and the staff of Food and Travel Magazine Italia with their excellent quality and fare.

Slovenia received the highest number of votes and won the category of Emerging Nation in Eno-Gastronomy 2019. The award was accepted on behalf of the Slovenian Tourist Board (STO) by Aljoša Ota, head of the STO’s branch office in Italy, and Slovenian master chef Tomaž Kavčič.

Food and Travel Magazine Italia has a global reach with more than 600,000 readers. It is published in English, German, Spanish, Greek, Portuguese, Arabic, Italian and Turkish. It is available to readers in the UK, Germany, Austria, German-speaking Switzerland, Turkey, Croatia, Mexico, the USA, Portugal, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in the Middle East (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates), Greece, Italy and Italian-speaking Switzerland. It has received numerous awards, which confirm its excellent reputation and its importance to international gastronomy. The magazine was first published in the United Kingdom in 1995.

The American media company has published a list of the most beautiful lesser-known European destinations, and it included Lake Bohinj. CNN published a list of 20 of Europe’s most beautiful places on its website. They focused on lesser-known places that are just as or even more charming than Europe’s most popular tourist attractions.

Among the destinations that charmed them was one in Slovenia – Lake Bohinj. “It is often disregarded in favour of the more popular Lake Bled, but Slovenia’s largest lake, set within the majestic Triglav National Park, is arguably just as spectacular,” they wrote.
