They agreed that relations between their countries have successfully developed in all fields of common interest, with particular focus on security and defence cooperation, both bilaterally and within NATO. They called for strengthening interstate cooperation, including the exchange of top-level visits.

They also talked about cooperation in NATO, including in the light of preparations for the December summit of allied leaders in London. State Secretary Leskovar stressed the importance of offering tangible European and Euro-Atlantic prospects for the Western Balkan countries, noting with satisfaction that Slovenia and the United States share similar views on the situation in the region. The interlocutors advocated that North Macedonia be welcomed as the 30th ally at the upcoming London summit.

They went on to address some other regional and global issues, including their related challenges, calling for closer political, security and other cooperation between the EU and the United States.

The State Secretary stressed the need to set up an effective and well-functioning multilateral system, which essentially requires active US engagement, and she also outlined the preparations for the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2021.
