The Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia are organising the EU – Western Balkans Ministerial Forum on Justice and Home Affairs. This ministerial forum is held once a year and aims to strengthen regional cooperation and good neighbourly relations as well as support the Western Balkan countries' progress towards European integration. It brings together the relevant European Commissioners, Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs of EU countries and the Western Balkan partners, representatives of EU agencies and the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU. The home affairs session will take place on 1 and 2 December 2021, while the justice session will follow on 2 and 3 December 2021.

The meeting of home affairs ministers will be divided into two parts. The first part will focus on migration management and border protection, while the second part will be dedicated to the fight against terrorism, extremism and radicalisation as well as the fight against organised crime.

The meeting of justice ministers will be devoted to a discussion on the rule of law, judicial reforms and improving judicial training systems in the first part, while the second part will focus on various initiatives and challenges in the digitalisation of justice.
