  • In March of this year, the Government adopted a decision endorsing Slovenia’s candidacy for membership in the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for the 2025–2027 term. Slovenia presented its candidacy in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Paris, which is also accredited as Slovenia’s Permanent Delegation to UNESCO, during the 47th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.

  • During its presidency of MED9, Slovenia will focus on strengthening Europe's resilience and competitiveness, youth empowerment and capacity-building in higher education, digitalisation and culture as well as the EU enlargement and other foreign policy issues. A number of events will be organised during the Presidency, which you can follow on the dedicated MED9 website.

  • The Government has proclaimed 2026 the year of the poet Srečko Kosovel to mark the 100th anniversary of his death. The proclamation was proposed by the Sežana Municipality. The proposal was supported by the Slovenian Writers' Association, while the Ministry of Culture included it among the important national cultural projects.
