Dr Jure Gašparič

Jure Gašparič was born in Maribor in 1977. He studied history at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, where he obtained his PhD in 2006.
He is a research counsellor at the Institute for Contemporary History in Ljubljana and editor of the main Slovenian scientific journal in the field of contemporary history, Prispevki za novejšo zgodovino (Contributions to Contemporary History), and a member of several editorial boards. He regularly participates at international scientific meetings and publishes in national and international scientific publications. He was Director of the Institute and Head of the Scientific Research Division from 2019 to 2020 and State Secretary for Science and Higher Education at the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport from 2020 to 2021.
On 3 April 2023, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia appointed Dr Gašparič State Secretary at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation.
