The UN Security Council Task Force of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs is the central entry and exit point in communication with the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Slovenia to the United Nations in New York. It processes requests for documents and contributions, and provides instructions and guidance on various points on the agenda of the UN SC, both in the run-up to and during Slovenia’s membership in the UN SC in 2024 and 2025.

The Task Force coordinates positions with the relevant organisational units of the Ministry and, where appropriate, with the relevant departments of the Slovenian Government. In addition to daily communication, regular weekly and monthly video coordination meetings are held between the Slovenian UN Mission in New York and the relevant organisational units of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and Slovenia’s diplomatic representations around the world.

The Task Force keeps the Minister and the Ministry’s high representatives informed of current developments in the UN SC and prepares proposals on matters requiring decision-making at the political level. The Task Force also regularly informs the Prime Minister’s Office and other governmental bodies about Slovenia’s activities related to its tenure in the Security Council.
