Ministry of Foreign Affairs Travel Advice: COVID-19

As the probability of infection with COVID-19 remains present, Slovenian citizens wishing to travel abroad are advised to follow the news on the spread of the virus, especially on the planned route, to check the conditions of entry into the country of destination, and to comply with local rules. Slovenian citizens returning from abroad are advised to follow the recommendations of the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).

The Information Technology Service performs work and tasks related to the development and maintenance of application software and the provision of support to the users of the information and communication system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is responsible for the supervision and smooth functioning of individual parts of the information system and conducts data backup procedures.

It is responsible for the management of the network, databases and software applications. It is responsible for the installation of hardware and software and the transport of computer equipment between the Ministry and representations abroad. In Slovenia and abroad, it performs tasks related to the preventive and emergency maintenance of computer equipment and corrects failures of IT equipment. It keeps records of emergency repairs, training and software licences.

It performs tasks related to the development of application software at the Ministry, manages IT projects and the purchase of IT equipment and is responsible for standardising IT equipment for the needs of software applications. It ensures the uninterrupted functioning of key software applications and provides technical support in introducing software applications and installing application software.

It is responsible for the safety and protection of data in the Ministry's information system. It plans security measures and participates in the implementation and testing of security solutions. It plans and proposes the adoption of documents, reports and internal regulations on IT security. It supervises the implementation of the security policy. It organises education and training on IT security. It cooperates with other national authorities, the EU, NATO INFOSEC and other institutions.

It performs functions and tasks related to data communications. It is in charge of the planning, development, maintenance and management of data communications, with a special emphasis on security. It ensures the functioning of the Ministry's system of data links, protected emails, internet connections and connections with other information systems.
