As the probability of infection with Covid-19 remains present, Slovenian citizens wishing to travel abroad are advised to follow the news on the spread of the virus, especially on the planned route, to check the conditions of entry into the country of destination, and to comply with local rules. Slovenian citizens returning from abroad are advised to follow the recommendations of the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).

The Agreement on Succession Issues was signed on 29 June 2001 in Vienna and is the only international agreement regulating the rights of and obligations between the successor states to the former SFRY. Slovenia ratified the Agreement on 12 July 2002 (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia [Uradni list RS], No. 71/02), and it entered into force on 2 June 2004. The Republic of Slovenia, the same as the other successor states to the former SFRY, appoints a High Representative for Succession Issues, who participates in the Standing Joint Committee of High Representatives.

At its 40th regular session, held on 18 July 2019, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia appointed Mateja Vraničar Erman as the High Representative of the Republic of Slovenia for Succession Issues, representing the Republic of Slovenia on the Standing Joint Committee of High Representatives of successor states to the former SFRY.

The High Representative for Succession Issues ensures the implementation of the Agreement and, in this regard, presents and advocates positions that have been previously approved by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia.

The line ministries responsible for issues defined in the Agreement on Succession Issues implement the Agreement in cooperation with the High Representative of the Republic of Slovenia for Succession Issues. With regard to issues arising from the implementation of the Agreement on Succession Issues, the High Representative of the Republic of Slovenia for Succession Issues cooperates with the line ministries, the Succession Fund of the Republic of Slovenia, the Bank of Slovenia, and other state authorities and institutions authorised to implement the Agreement on Succession Issues.

The High Representative of the Republic of Slovenia for Succession Issues is also the person authorised to negotiate the assumption of a guarantee for foreign currency savings within the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and a member of the Coordination Committee for Succession Issues.
