Ministry of Foreign Affairs Travel Advice: COVID-19

As the probability of infection with Covid-19 remains present, Slovenian citizens wishing to travel abroad are advised to follow the news on the spread of the virus, especially on the planned route, to check the conditions of entry into the country of destination, and to comply with local rules. Slovenian citizens returning from abroad are advised to follow the recommendations of the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).

The Human Rights Department prepares and coordinates the content of Slovenia's activities regarding the international promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.

It proposes and conducts Slovenia's activities to strengthen international human rights norms and standards. It performs tasks related to Slovenia's cooperation with international organisations in the area of human rights and participates in developing the common foreign and security policy of the European Union in this area.

It prepares Slovenia's positions on issues relating to human rights considered within the UN and its specialised agencies and other international organisations (OSCE, the Council of Europe).

It monitors the situation in individual countries regarding human rights and report on respect for human rights in Slovenia. It participates in the development of the EU’s common positions regarding respect for human rights in third countries.

It conducts and coordinates the work of the Inter-Ministerial Working Group for Human Rights and cooperates with representatives of civil society.

In Slovenia, it is the authority responsible for the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR).
