Dr Rok Strašek

Dr Rok Strašek is a Doctor of Science in Mathematics and a Full Professor and a Research Counsellor at the University of Primorska.
He began his academic career as a teaching assistant at the University of Maribor. After being appointed Associate Professor, he continued his career at the University of Primorska, where he was promoted to Full Professor. Alongside his teaching and research responsibilities, he has also held numerous leadership positions, including the position of Chair of the Department and Vice-Dean. From 2011 to 2026, he served as Vice-Rector for Economics and Finance at the University of Primorska.
He has further strengthened his international academic and research profile through appointments in Japan, Brazil, Germany, Russia, Serbia, and Montenegro, working as a visiting professor and researcher for shorter periods.
From 2012 to 2014, he was Director of the University Development Centre and Incubator of Primorska. He has led the financial restructuring projects of both the University of Primorska and the University Development Centre and Incubator of Primorska. He has also participated in the reform of the Slovenian higher education system as co-leader of the pilot project under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, entitled "Green, Digital and Inclusive University of Primorska". He is a certified supervisor and was formerly a member of the Supervisory Board at Zavarovalnica Triglav.
His extensive research work is internationally recognised. He has led several international research projects and participated in many others. As a researcher, he has participated in 12 national research projects, leading three of them.
He is the author of 21 original scientific articles, including ten as lead author. He has also published numerous scholarly and professional papers presented at international scientific conferences. He is the author of three scientific monographs and six university textbooks. He is a regular guest lecturer at conferences, expert meetings and round tables, and also serves as a peer reviewer of scientific monographs, university textbooks and numerous scientific articles.
