The Intelligence and Security Service (ISS) is a defence intelligence-security service organized as a directorate at the Ministry of Defence. The ISS performs intelligence, counter-intelligence and security tasks, and is responsible for ensuring a uniform system of the protection of classified information at the Ministry of Defence. The ISS Director General is responsible for the work of the ISS to the Minister of Defence. The ISS personnel performing intelligence or counter-intelligence tasks have the powers provided by law for employees of the Slovene Intelligence and Security Agency. The ISS personnel performing security tasks have the powers provided by law for the Police to prevent, detect and investigate criminal offences in the field of defence.
