Intelligence and Security Service
The Intelligence and Security Service is the service of the Ministry of Defence operating in the area of defence intelligence and security. It performs intelligence, counter-intelligence and security functions in the field of defence. The Service is also responsible for providing a uniform system for the protection of classified information at the Ministry of Defence. The Service’s personnel performing intelligence or counter-intelligence duties have the same powers as defined by the law for the employees of the Slovene Intelligence and Security Agency. Its personnel carrying out security duties have the same powers in the prevention, detection and investigation of criminal offences in the field of defence as prescribed by the law for the Police. The Director-General of the Intelligence and Security Service is directly responsible to the Minister of Defence for the work of the Service.
The staff profile of the Intelligence and Security Service is quite diverse owing to its extensive duties. The Service strives primarily to recruit experts in the area of information and technical security, linguists, criminal law experts and experts in the area of military, police and investigation skills.
