About the Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy

The Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy is responsible for planning and implementing Cohesion Policy in the Republic of Slovenia and for planning and coordinating national development policies. The Government Office is responsible for the day-to-day management of funding provided by the European Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund and decides how this funding will be spent in accordance with the applicable legislation of the European Union. In its function as managing authority, it includes the ministries, government offices and other stakeholders in the process of Cohesion Policy implementation. The Government Office coordinates and monitors their activities in this respect and reports to the Government thereon. It is responsible for putting in place the information system for monitoring and evaluation of Cohesion Policy implementation and making sure that the system works well and is properly maintained. It provides advice to the Government and ministries on the measures and legal acts relating to the implementation and monitoring of Cohesion Policy. It is responsible for ensuring consistency of national development planning documents and consistency of national development planning documents with the development documents of the European Union and other international organisations. The Government Office performs the task of managing other financial mechanisms, such as the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and the EEA Financial Mechanism.
