Dr Niko Gamulin
Dr Niko Gamulin, born in 1982, holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering. He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana, where he also obtained his doctorate in machine learning and artificial intelligence. For his diploma thesis, he received the Prešeren Award from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana.
His research and professional work have focused on the development of machine learning methods, artificial intelligence, data analytics, computer vision, and large-scale data processing. He conducted research at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Computer and Information Science at the University of Ljubljana.
Throughout his career, he has worked as a software engineer, researcher, data scientist, and consultant in artificial intelligence. He has contributed to the development of information and technological solutions for the financial sector, retail, telecommunications, and agriculture. He has also worked on the application of large language models and the implementation of data-driven solutions in business environments.
Before assuming leadership of the Government Information Security Office of the Republic of Slovenia, he worked as an independent consultant and entrepreneur, collaborating with domestic and international companies on the development and implementation of information technology solutions.
In June 2026, he became Acting Director of the Government Information Security Office of the Republic of Slovenia. His work focuses on strengthening the cyber resilience of the Republic of Slovenia, effective risk management, interinstitutional cooperation, and the use of modern technologies to enhance national cybersecurity.
