The Radiation and Nuclear Safety Inspection verifies whether licence holders and authorised experts identify and resolve potential and actual safety problems and comply with the relevant laws and regulations.

Regular announced and unannounced inspections are carried out, as well as interventions. Inspections are carried out under procedures that enable inspectors to determine whether safety requirements are met and whether administrative and legal requirements are satisfied. The frequency of regular inspections of specific facilities or activities is proportionate to the scale of their potential adverse impact on the living or working environment. Unannounced inspections allow for the condition of facilities and operations to be established at any time according to defined requirements. Unplanned inspections are generally actions taken due to unexpected or unusual circumstances occurring at the licence holder or other entities.
