Road transport inspections focus mainly on supervising the implementation of regulations governing road transport of passengers and goods, and legislation in the fields of social affairs, vehicles, drivers and the transport of dangerous goods.

Road transport inspection also covers transport providers, driving times, rest times of persons working in transport and the use of recording equipment, programmes for training drivers and driver candidates and partners implementing such programmes, and procedures and implementing partners ensuring vehicle compliance and roadworthiness, thus pursuing three complementary objectives: improving road safety, providing social protection of persons working in transport and ensuring a level playing field among transport companies.
