Division for the Protection of Archival Records Pertaining to Health Care, Education, the Economy, Associations, part of the Administration and the Judiciary

The Division for the Protection of Archival Records Pertaining to Health Care, Education, the Economy, Associations, part of the Administration and the Judiciary, established in 2009, is one of the more recent internal organisational units of the Slovenian national archives.

Its work focuses primarily on cooperation with creators of archival records in the areas of the economy, healthcare and social affairs, professional chambers, chambers of commerce, associations and natural persons conducting business activity and on the professional processing of archival records.

It is responsible for the protection of archival records before they are transferred to the archives; to this end, it issues written instructions for the selection of archival records from current records and provides expert assistance in managing, selecting and recording such records. Its tasks also include managing archival records that are already in the archives. It compiles archival guides, inventories and other finding aids for using funds and collections in the areas of administration dating to the period from the middle of the 18th century to the middle of the 20th century, land cadastres, manorial estates and associations, and military funds and personal and family funds.

The Division also works with owners of private archival records in the business sector and associations and with natural persons and creators responsible for the protection of archival records. Special attention is devoted to archival records abroad held by archival institutions and Slovenian emigrants and Slovenians abroad.
