Microelectronics-2: Semiconductors and microchips
The cross-border multi-country Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) "Microelectronics-2" strengthens the capacity of EU Member States to build and enhance the EU's autonomy and resilience in the field of semiconductor value chains, in which Slovenia also intends to participate, as part of the national Recovery and Resilience Plan - Digital Transformation of the Economy.
It is a state aid instrument for projects involving companies from several EU Member States.
Microelectronics is an important part of the semiconductor industry. In addition to its important contribution to the competitiveness of European industry, it is of paramount importance for national security within the EU. It is the basis for almost all new advanced technologies such as communications (5G and future 6G networks), artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), new mobility, autonomous driving, medical technology and security/defence technology.
