  • Minister Jevšek at the Consultation on the Future of Cohesion Policy: We will not agree to centralise Cohesion Policy

    The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development organised the 2nd National Consultation on Cohesion Policy beyond 2027. The consultation took place at the Faculty of Public Administration. In his opening address, the Minister of Cohesion and Regional Development, Dr Aleksander Jevšek, underlined Slovenia’s commitment to preserving the main principles of Cohesion Policy.

  • BIZI NOO call for proposals for border problem areas published

    The Slovenian Regional Development Fund (SRDF) has published the BIZI NOO call for proposals on its website. The purpose of the call for proposals is to promote initial sustainable projects for the development and competitiveness of enterprises in border problem areas which will have a positive impact on competitiveness, productivity and technological equipment, employment, environmental protection and the promotion of resource efficiency.

  • Planned calls for proposals in the field of regional development in 2024 and 2025

    The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development (MKRR) will launch public calls for proposals in 2024. The calls will be implemented by the ministry on its own as well as through the Slovenian Regional Development Fund (SRRS) and the Slovene Enterprise Fund (SPS) to offer both grants and repayable financial incentives to local communities and businesses in 2025.

    The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the ECoC GO!2025 project – Renovation of the Trg Evrope square.

  • Monitoring Committee of Slovenia’s Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 discusses the introduction of the STEP regulation

    At today's third meeting of the Monitoring Committee of Slovenia’s Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027, the members of the Monitoring Committee and European Commission representatives discussed the progress made in Slovenia’s Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 implementation and the amendments of the programme that will allow the establishment of the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP).

  • 20th Salzburg Europe Summit

    Minister Jevšek was a keynote speaker at the panel discussion titled Improve Efficiency of the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESI Funds) Absorption Processes in Slovenia that took place in the framework of the 20th Salzburg Europe Summit. In his speech, the Minister underlined the importance of the Integrated Territorial Investments (ITIs) mechanism, which is an excellent example of a ‘place-based’ and ‘bottom-up’ approach.

  • Working together to reduce economic and social disparities in Europe

    The closing event of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism programmes for the period 2014-2021 in Slovenia took place in Ljubljana. A total of 37.7 million euros was allocated to Slovenia under the two financial mechanisms during this period.

  • Panel discussion Mobility and web accessibility for people with disabilities and older people

    Minister Dr Aleksander Jevšek took part in the panel discussion Mobility and web accessibility for people with disabilities that was held at the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia. In his opening remarks, the Minister said that care for the people with disabilities and the elderly was an across-the-board theme in long-term care, health care, and social inclusion in Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027.

  • EU funding for the development of key competences for persons on probation

    The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project Development of key competences and specialised programmes for persons on probation.

  • EU funding for human resources development in small and medium-sized enterprises

    The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project Competence centres for human resources development 4.0. European Regional Development Fund contribution for the project stands at 15.4 million euros. The project aims to improve employees’ knowledge and skills, enhance creativity and innovation and thus boost the productivity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

  • Conference ‘’Renewable Energy Production Challenges’’

    A conference under the theme ‘’Renewable Energy Production Challenges’’ marked the closure of the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Programme that has been implemented under the EEA and Norway Grants 2014-2020.

  • Ministry recognises the importance of development regions

    Minister Dr Aleksander Jevšek attended an event marking the 30th anniversary of the Koper Regional Development Centre. In his speech, the Minister underscored the importance of development regions; the ministry hopes to see them stronger in the future, including thanks to the incoming amendments to the Balanced Regional Development Act.

    The ninth Mediterranean Coast and Macro-Regional Strategies Week under the theme ‘’Stronger cooperation for a better future’’ was officially opened in Izola today. The traditional event that gathers hundreds of stakeholders on Slovenian coast every year aims to raise awareness of the sea and the coast and the need to balance their economic potential and environmental sustainability.

  • A country is only as strong as its development regions

    On 12 September 2024, the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia hosted a development conference in Ljubljana titled Decentralisation and efficient public services: Slovenia's development vision for the next decade. The conference discussed Slovenia's diverse development challenges and policies. The Minister of Cohesion and Regional Development, Dr Aleksander Jevšek, opened the conference.

  • First consultation on post-2027 cohesion policy in Slovenia

    ‘’Cohesion policy funding helps us create jobs and support projects that improve our transport, energy, healthcare and education infrastructure, promote cooperation between partners, improve security at our borders, contribute to fight against climate change and foster the digital transition of our society,’’ underscored Minister Jevšek at the event.

  • Budapest hosts informal meeting of ministers responsible for cohesion policy

    The Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU organised an informal meeting of the General Affairs Council that took place in Budapest on 6 September 2024. The meeting brought together EU ministers responsible for cohesion policy to discuss the role of cohesion policy in addressing demographic challenges in the EU.

  • Government gives green light to amended Programme of Development Incentives for Border Problem Areas

    The Government of the Republic of Slovenia has adopted amendments to the Programme of Development Incentives for Border Problem Areas in the 2022-2025 Period.

  • European Commission proposes granting 428.4 million euros as flood aid for Slovenia

    Today, the European Commission proposed a financial contribution from the European Union Solidarity Fund (EUSF) of more than one billion for the countries affected by severe flooding in 2023. Slovenian will receive a total of 428.4 million euros for recovery measures following the August 2023 floods in Slovenia.

  • Call for co-funding large investments to boost productivity and competitiveness launched again

    The Public Agency SPIRIT Slovenia has again launched the Call for proposals for the promotion of large investments to boost productivity and competitiveness in the Republic of Slovenia, which is implemented in the framework of Slovenia’s Recovery and Resilience Plan. This call for proposals, which was recently cancelled due to the European Commission's requirements to update and amend the conditions for applicants, was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia No 69/2024 and on the SPIRIT website.

  • EU funding for raising the quality of bilingual education

    The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project Raising the quality of bilingual education for the Italian national community in Slovenia and the Slovenian national community in Italy.
