Particular emphasis was placed during the visit on the integration of persons granted international protection status. The main challenge in this area is the preparation of integration action plans for implementation of the migration strategy adopted by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia.

In tackling the challenges of migration, Slovenia is committed to respecting and maintaining balance between the principles of solidarity and security. For this reason we have shown solidarity to Italy and Malta, which are facing these challenges, and on the other hand strengthened security on our southern, Schengen border, which is most exposed to irregular migration.

Following the visit, the Prime Minister emphasised that the accommodation and support of applicants for international protection take place in accordance with Slovenian and European legislation. Accommodation capacities at the Asylum Centre are not exceeded. In addition to regular psychosocial care, numerous other activities are provided at the Centre by non-governmental organisations.

The Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for the Support and Integration of Migrants also plays a coordinating role. The Prime Minister praised their efforts in this field, and also the efforts of all other stakeholders.
