Information for citizens stranded abroad due to the situation in the Middle East
The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs continues to provide consular assistance to Slovenian citizens. Those who are unable to return from otherwise safe destinations due to air traffic disruption in the Middle East are advised to seek alternative routes home with the assistance of their airline ticket providers.

Evacuation by charter flights from the Middle East is coming to an end, but the MFEA remains available to assist Slovenian citizens
We would like to inform Slovenian citizens who are currently stranded in the Middle East and the Gulf that airspace is gradually reopening. Consequently, an increasing number of commercial flights are available for those wishing to return home. However, the Ministry remains available to provide consular assistance.

Slovenia assisting its citizens in the Middle East and the Gulf
To help Slovenian citizens in the Middle East, Slovenia has arranged two extra repatriation flights with FlyDubai from the United Arab Emirates. We have now begun contacting citizens in Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Ministers from the Middle East and the Gulf discussed major efforts to achieve peace and ease tensions in the region
On the sidelines of the visit of foreign ministers from the Middle East and the Gulf to Slovenia, a panel discussion entitled From the Board of Peace to Broader Peace in the Middle East took place as part of the Bled Strategic Forum. All participants emphasised that nobody wants a new war in the region and that everyone is making significant diplomatic efforts to achieve peace.

Minister Fajon: Visit by Middle East foreign ministers highlights Slovenia’s diplomatic engagement
The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon, is hosting the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt and Qatar in Slovenia. "This visit demonstrates that Slovenia is recognised as a trustworthy and constructive partner. These are influential countries that combine regional responsibility, humanitarian solidarity and diplomacy," Minister Fajon said.

Slovenia and Egypt organise workshop on the nexus of climate change, conflict and displacement
Luxor is hosting an expert workshop on climate change, conflict and displacement, and migration in North-East Africa and the EU, in the framework of the so-called Khartoum Process, which serves as a platform for migration management. Bringing together African and European experts, the workshop is organised by Slovenia and Egypt and co-organised by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development.

Increase of Schengen visa fees
The European Commission adopted a decision to increase short stay Schengen visa (visa type C) fees worldwide by 12 per cent. The increase will apply worldwide as of 11 June 2024.
