At today's session, the Government adopted the Decree laying down more detailed rules and criteria for granting state aid to the media and set out the text of the proposed Resolution on the National Healthcare Plan in Slovenia 2026–2035. At today’s session, the Government adopted several draft acts, including draft acts on the Slovenian Press Agency, on the developmental restructuring of the Savinja–Šalek coal region, and on nursing and midwifery. 183rd regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia
At today's session, the Government adopted the draft Employee Participation in Profit Sharing Act, which reduces administrative burdens, introduces fairer taxation and allows for greater employee participation in profit sharing. The Government also took note of the information on the implementation of long-term care.

At today’s session, the Government adopted the draft Act on Salaries and Remuneration of Public Employees and Officials Related to Work Abroad, and the draft amendment to the Act on the First Pension Fund of the Republic of Slovenia and the Transformation of Authorised Investment Companies. It also adopted a decision on claiming partial reimbursement of wage compensation for reduced working hours.

Government visit to the Podravje region
The Government visited the Podravje region. At its regular session held during the visit, it endorsed several important legislative and financial measures – ranging from strategic investments at the University of Maribor to amendments to cohesion policy, housing and healthcare measures, and a new regulatory framework for the wine sector. Separate programmes of members of the Government followed, and the day concluded with a consultation with mayors and business representatives on the key challenges facing the region.

181st regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia
At today’s session, the Government adopted draft acts on the gradual closure of the Velenje Coal Mine, on additional emergency measures in the field of healthcare, on wine, and the draft amendment to the Act on the Financing and Promotion of the Construction of Public Rental Housing. The Government approved the second amendment to the European Cohesion Policy Programme 2021–2027 and signed an agreement with the Municipality of Maribor.

Slovenia receives €440 million in EU funds for recovery and resilience
Today, the European Commission paid €440 million to Slovenia on the basis of the fourth payment request under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). "Slovenia has met all the milestones and targets linked to the fourth payment request and has therefore received the maximum possible disbursement," said Finance Minister Klemen Boštjančič upon the inflow of funds.

180th Regular Session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia
At today’s session, the Government approved draft amendments to the acts governing Radiotelevizija Slovenija, sport, the legal profession, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities, the latter introducing additional measures to improve the accessibility of public-use facilities for persons with disabilities. The Government also discussed the announced ownership changes at the Ljubljana Stock Exchange.

179th Regular Session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia
At today’s session, the Government approved draft amendments to the Acts governing the organisation and financing of education, the guidance of children with special needs, the medical profession, and drivers. In addition, by amending the Weapons Act, it is introducing a temporary option for the voluntary surrender of firearms and ammunition to the police.

Government Visit to the Goriška Region
During a regional visit to the Goriška region, the Prime Minister and ministers met with local representatives to discuss the development challenges and opportunities of the area. In Vipava, the Government also held a “field” 178th regular session, at which it adopted a decision to establish a public institution for contemporary dance and took note of the signing of a letter of intent aimed at acquiring the status of a public university.

178th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia
At its regular session held during the visit to the Goriška region, the Government began considering the Wine Act proposal, which it will continue to review at one of its forthcoming sessions. The Government also adopted a decision to establish a public institute for contemporary dance, which will ensure the stable development of contemporary dance, and took note of the signing of a Letter of Intent to initiate activities required for the University of Nova Gorica to obtain public university status.

177th Regular Session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia
At today’s session, the Government adopted the Draft Act on Measures to Ensure Public Safety (Šutar Act), which aims to strengthen security across the country. It also approved the Draft Juvenile Criminal Justice Act and the amendments to the Minor Offences Act, the Probation Act, and the Slovenian Intelligence and Security Agency Act. Furthermore, the Government decided that the Slovenian Armed Forces will assist the Police in the broader protection of the national border.

175th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia
At today’s session, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia reviewed the draft Act on the Payment of the Winter Allowance and approved the draft amendment to the Social Security Act. The Government also adopted the Strategy for the Development of Quantum Technologies in Slovenia until 2035, which encompasses research, infrastructure, human resources, knowledge transfer, and support mechanisms, and provides a systemic response to the challenges and opportunities of quantum technology development.

At today’s session, the Government adopted a proposal to amend the Service in the Slovenian Armed Forces Act. The amendment aims to regulate working hours and certain other employment rights for the duration of specific military activities. At today's session, the Government adopted the starting points for preparing changes in the taxation of natural persons who carry out an activity and for discussing the introduction of a mandatory right of workers to the payment of a 14th monthly salary (Christmas bonus). It also took note of the European Commission's report on the state of the rule of law in the European Union for 2025, which establishes that Slovenia has made progress in practically all the areas discussed.

At today’s session, the Government adopted the draft amendment to the Act Regulating Relations of the Republic of Slovenia with Slovenians Abroad, which lays down measures to strengthen the economic base of Slovenians in neighbouring countries. At today's correspondence session, the Government adopted guidelines for the adoption of economic measures in relation to the situation in the occupied Palestinian territory and instructed two ministries to take all necessary steps to prepare a proposal for measures. The 2023 floods were not just a natural disaster, they were a turning point
The floods that hit Slovenia in August 2023 had numerous consequences, ranging from major material damage to entirely personal losses. The worst natural disaster in the history of independent Slovenia affected almost two-thirds of the country's territory.

The Government instructs the Ministry of Defence to strictly enforce controls on arms trade with Israel
At today's correspondence session, the Government took note of the Information on the Issuance of Permits for the Export and Transit of Military Weapons and Equipment to Israel, which states that, due to the armed conflicts (a reason specified in indent three of paragraph three of Article 77 of the Defence Act), the Ministry of Defence has not issued any permits for the export of military weapons and equipment to Israel since October 2023.

The Government of the Republic of Slovenia is greatly concerned about the incident that took place yesterday, on 27 July 2025, at the Peršman Museum, one of the most important memorial sites for Carinthian Slovenians. As the scene of one of the most horrific crimes of the Nazi regime against the Slovenian population in Carinthia, any intervention in this place is particularly sensitive.

The Government welcomes the initiative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia and supports the purpose of the Declaration, which comprehensively addresses the issue of the position and exercise of the rights of the Slovenian national minority in the Austrian regions of Carinthia and Styria.

130th Regular Session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia
At today’s session, the Government of Slovenia adopted a transitional law to enable a thoughtful and socially just coal exit in the Šaleška Valley. It also determined proposals for the Passport Act and amendments to the laws on identity cards, banking, the central register of insured persons and beneficiaries of mandatory pension and disability insurance rights, and confirmed amendments to the Reconstruction Act.

At today's session, the Government adopted several regulations on the classification of jobs into salary grades as a result of the adopted salary reform, and the Decree Implementing Regulation (EU) on the establishment of a Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP). At today's session, the Government took note of work being done ahead of the application to host a high-performance computer, i.e. an artificial intelligence (AI) supercomputer, in order to set up an AI Factory. At today's session, the Government completed the discussion on the 343 buildings scheduled for potential removal in the aftermath of the floods and landslides that occurred in August 2023. Decisions taken by government committees
At the meetings of government committees, the Government, among other things, decided to provide assistance to the countries of Central and Southeastern Europe that were affected by floods in September 2024. Based on their requests for assistance through the Union's civil protection mechanism, the Government will provide aid with up to five different flood intervention units or appropriate material assistance with a total value of up to 600,000 euros.

Prime Minister Golob assesses the response to the fire in the Karst as extremely fast and efficient
Prime Minister Robert Golob, who also serves as the Minister of Defence, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Damir Črnčec, Civil Protection Commander Srečko Šestan, and the Director-General of the Administration for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief, Leon Behin, were briefed on the situation in relation to the fire in the Karst. The Prime Minister assessed the operations of all deployed units as extremely fast and efficient.

The fire is not yet out, but the situation is stable
The activities in response to the fire in the Karst are still ongoing. The fire that broke out today on the Trstelj and Kačnik hills has not yet been extinguished, but the situation is stable. New firefighting units with more than 350 firefighters will tackle the fire overnight.

Civil Protection Commander Srečko Šestan activates national emergency plan for fire in Karst region
A fire broke out this morning in the Karst region of Trstelj. Strong winds caused the fire to spread over the entire hill and move towards Nova Gorica. At 10:34 a.m., RS Civil Protection Commander Srečko Šestan activated the National Protection and Rescue Plan for the event of a major fire in the natural environment.

238th correspondence session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia
The Government has formulated the text of the proposal of the Act on temporary measures to improve personnel and working conditions and the capacities of providers of social assistance and long-term care services. The text of the proposal is in the third reading stage. The Government agreed to the proposed changes to the new legal amendments to the Act Determining Intervention Measures for Flood and Landslide Recovery of August 2023.
